"Rocks and Stones: From Prehistoric Times to the Computer-Robotic Artificial Intelligence Era" From the earliest civilizations to the technological marvels of today rocks and stones have been the fundamental building materials of the Earth's crust. In "Rocks and Stones" we explore the fascinating journey of these essential resources throughout history as they have been used for construction architecture and industry. This comprehensive guide delves into the intricate process of transforming natural rocks into the perfectly crafted stones required for various engineering projects. We examine how the usage of rocks and stones varies depending on specific requirements and specifications in construction architecture and the stone industry. Understanding the mineralogical petrological and structural geological parameters that shape natural rock deposits is crucial in ensuring their quality. That's why this book incorporates valuable techniques and guidelines for assessing the quality of rock deposits prior to quarrying mining and usage. We also introduce cutting-edge technology such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) or drones for topographic surveys in geological exploration and mining operations. Ground-penetrating radar (GPR) technology for demarcating subsurface lithological variations prior to mining operations is also suggested. "Rocks and Stones" goes beyond theoretical knowledge by providing practical insights into planning for quarrying and mining massive rock deposits. Experts in the field share their recommended methods through captivating case studies giving readers a comprehensive understanding of the process. Environmental impact is a crucial consideration in any mining operation. That's why include guidelines and approval methods for quarrying and mining granite and other minor minerals in accordance with the District Environmental Impact Assessment Authority (DEIAA) guidelines. Also the book provides information on the latest amendments to the environmental clearance process ensuring readers stay up-to-date with climate change regulations. To further enhance the learning experience each chapter includes learning objectives the latest research technical developments and references for further study. Additionally several chapters feature illustrative case studies and references to additional reading allowing readers to expand their knowledge beyond the book. Whether you're an engineering or science student a research scholar or a professional working in rock sciences and rock engineering studies "Rocks and Stones" is an invaluable resource. It is also essential for professionals involved in industrial rock deposit exploration mining quality assessment utilization trading and marketing. With insights into the fields of architecture construction engineering civil engineering mining engineering archaeology and natural stone usage this book is a must-have for anyone interested in the fascinating world of rocks and stones.

About the Book: In "Carbon Capture - Utilization and Storage: Climate Change Mitigation," the urgent battle against climate change takes center stage as the world grapples with the pressing need to reduce anthropogenic carbon dioxide emissions. Delving into the intricate science behind Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS), this book navigates the complex landscape of strategies aimed at trapping emitted CO2 and preventing its release into the atmosphere. From post-combustion to pre-combustion methods, readers are immersed in a world where cutting-edge technologies intersect with environmental necessity. As the global community strives to honor the mandates of the Paris Agreement, the author explores the potential of CCUS to pave the way for a carbon-neutral future.  Despite challenges surrounding cost and commercial viability, a glimmer of hope emerges as integrated CCUS systems gain traction around the world. From the United States to China, these systems offer a glimpse into a future where carbon capture and utilization become integral components of sustainable energy production. With a focus on clarity and accessibility, this book aims to educate undergraduates, researchers, and policymakers alike on the vital role CCUS plays in the fight against climate change. For those seeking a comprehensive understanding of this pivotal technology, "Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage" serves as an indispensable guide into the realm of environmental stewardship and innovation.

The green building movement in India is spearheaded by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) since 2001. Today India is seen as one of the leading countries in embracing green building concepts trends and technologies. A time has come to dissipate knowledge on green concepts to young minds across the country. This would enable young professionals in contributing to the Nation's goal of achieving net zero by 2070. IGBC has developed a comprehensive book titled Introduction to Green Buildings  Built Environment The objective of this book is to encourage inspire and provide knowledge to young professionals so that they can include sustainability in any sphere of their careers. This book is a one-of-a-kind publication not attempted thus far in the country. Universities and colleges of Architecture and Engineering can adopt this book as a reference material to offer the subject of green buildings and built environment as an elective. Students can then take up an examination offered online to get accredited as "IGBC Associate Professionals' which can open up new employment opportunities. The coverage includes basic principles trends and techniques spread across five chapters viz. Sustainable Sites Water Management Energy Management Materials Resources and Indoor Environmental Quality.

Solar energy or energy from the Sun is the energy of future. The energy will serve the mankind s all requirement of energy in various form. Interestingly this is also the answer to all problems associated with traditional forms of energy now in use and taken for granted eventually to save the planet esp. against the calamities resulting from global warming and climate change not just fashionable to talk about. The present book whilst dealing with all aspects of exploiting solar energy in all forms the main focus of the book is on describing the generation of electricity from solar energy. A major part of contents deals with the design installation and operation of rooftop solar systems on the author s roof covering a time span of over ten years. The other important gadget on the roof top is more than twenty years old Solar Water Heater that works using solar energy in direct form providing round-the-clock hot water in the house the system requiring little maintenance has paid over itself many years ago. An important feature of the book is a detailed discussion on the application of solar energy in health care industry to improve and modernise working of hospitals and health-care centres in the interest of patients and the environment and proving use of electrical energy from the Sun to be most cost effective. The last chapter deals with a comprehensive list of frequently asked questions or FAQs with answers. This is aimed to help readers clarify all queries that might naturally arise to learn more about varied aspects of solar energy and encourage them to exploit solar energy in various forms mainly to set up a rooftop to generate electricity from the Sun availing it free in a few years after a moderate initial investment to set up a suitable rooftop solar system.
